(New Orleans) Graduating senior Jalisa Swift of Lake Nona High School announced that she will attend Dillard University in fall 2013.  Swifts plans to study medicine and will also join a Lady Bleu Devils basketball team that has already signed three other players during the off-season.

New Orleans, LA - Southern University at New Orleans took a big step towards bolstering its backcourt with the addition of combo guard Melvin Davis who spent the last two seasons lighting up scoreboards for Delgado Community College.

Davis, listed at 6-0, 165 lbs, is a New Orleans native who prepped at John McDonough High School.  He was named to the All-Miss-Lou Conference team this past season after averaging more than 25 points per game.  For the season he had 10 games of more than 25 points including 9 games where he topped 30 points.  He poured in 38 points against Pensacola-Florida, a contest in which he knocked down 9 three-pointers.  

Nashville, Tenn.--- Fisk University Athletic Director Anthony Owens has been selected as the representative of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) for the National Administrative Council (NAC) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

(New Orleans) Graduating senior Shantrell Lumar of Broadmoor High announced she will attend Dillard University in fall 2013.  She will also join the Lady Bleu Devils basketball team and new head coach Norbert Rome.
