Hattiesburg, Miss.   The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced the men and women's basketball players of the week for the week ending November 12, 2006.The men's basketball player of the week is Jamon Morris of LSUS.  Morris shot 64% from the field and scored 18 points along with 14 rebounds in a 81-79 victory over Wiley College.  Jamon is a 6-5 junior forward from Chicago, Illinois.

The women's basketball player of the week is Jarryn Cleaves of Xavier University.  Cleaves was the leading scorer in both Xavier victories during the week as the Gold Nuggets started the season at 4-0 for the first time since the 1996-97 season.  Against Concordia, Cleaves' 3-pointer at 6:47 of the first half closed a 10-0 run which gave Xavier a 22-12 lead. The Nuggets led 30-22 at halftime and took their biggest lead, 59-39, on Cleaves' free throw with 3:53 remaining.  She averaged 13 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4 steals in games against Texas College and Concordia (Ala.).  Jarryn is a 5-8 junior guard from Memphis, Tennessee.
