Shreveport, La. - The LSUS Pilots men's basketball team tied a school record with their 28th win of the season on Wednesday night, as they advanced to the GCAC Tournament Semifinals with an 86-82 victory over the Belhaven Blazers.

LSUS jumped out to an early 14-2 lead, but the Blazers would fight back to cut the Pilots lead to just two at the halftime break.

The Blazers opened up the second half on a 7-0 run, taking a 43-38 lead over the Pilots with 18 minutes remaining in the contest.

However, the Pilots responded with a 16-3 run of their own over the next six minutes of play to grab an eight point lead and take back control of the contest.

The Blazers would threaten to take back the lead on several different occassions late in the game, but the Pilots would never surrender the lead as they hung on for a four-point victory.

Josh Porter led the Pilots with a game-high 22 points, while J'Quincy Jones pumped in 18 points in just 21 minutes.

Travis Cash also became the sixth member of the Pilots 1,000-point club with nine points in the win.  Cash currently sits at exactly 1,000 career points and is the only Pilot in history to record over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 250 assists.

The Pilots will now host Spring Hill College at The Dock on Friday night in a GCAC Tournament Semifinal match-up.  LSUS and Spring Hill split their season series with each team winning on the other's home court.  Friday's tip is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
