Joe Diecidue (4-1) took the win in a wild first game that saw the teams combine for 29 runs on 27 hits and 8 errors. Diecidue pitched 3 2/3 allowing no earned runs, striking out 2.
Ray Kelly took the loss for Carey in relief as he allowed 6 earned runs in 2 innings, with 1 strike out.
Offensively, the Blazers pounded the ball behind the bats of Charlie Edwards (2-5, 4 RBIs, 3 runs scored), Brian McCormick (2-4, 3 RBIs, double), and Brent Hudson (3-3, 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored, double). Freshman Lake Eiland may have provided the most exciting moment of the ballgames as he crushed a fastball 370 feet for his first collegiate homerun.
Louis Rolon led the Crusaders with a 2-4, 4 RBI performance in the game.
Game 2
Chris Hartfield started game 2 but picked up the no decision as he allowed 3 earned runs in 4 innings. Riley Galloway (4-0) took the win in relief as he pitched 3 1/3 innings allowing only 1 earned run. Closer Kyle Medley came in with 2 on, 1 out in the 8th to log a 5 out save for his 6th save of the season.
Charlie Edwards once again provided the big stick for the Blazers in game 2 as he went 3-3, with 4 RBIs, 2 runs scored, with his 5th homerun of the season.
Josh Troxclair (2-2) took the loss for the Crusaders as he allowed 6 earned runs through 4 1/3 innings of work. David Trixler paced the Crusader offense as he went 2-5, with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Next up the Blazers take to the road as they travel to Thomasville GA, with a stop in Tuscaloosa, AL, in between. The Blazers will take on Stillman College (2:00 PM) on Monday, Berry College (5:00 PM) on Tuesday, and Thomas University (4:00 PM) on Wednesday.
