Farmer's Branch, Tx., The Belhaven College Softball Team (15-13, 1-1) picked up a pair of victories at this weekend's Oklahoma Christian University Tournament in Farmer's Branch, TX. The Lady Blazers finished the tournament with a 2-3 record. Their victories came against Oklahoma Christian University (4-3), and Kansas Wesleyan University (16-4). Day 1; Game 1

The Lady Blazers took their only day 1 loss in the first game as the lost to Lubbock Christian University by a score of 0-4. Salina Cervantes took the loss as she allowed 2 earned runs in 1 inning of work. Sarah Burns worked 5 innings in relief allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 4.

The Lady Blazers offense was limited to only 4 singles by Britney Webb, Jor'Dan Orr (2), and Lauren Biediger.

Game 2

Game 2 saw Belhaven take a 4-3 victory. Sarah Burns pitched a complete game, as she struck out 8 batters and allowed 2 earned runs through 7 innings pitched.

Britney Webb sparked the offense as she reached base in four trips to the plate. Webb was 2-2, with 2 walks, 2 runs scored, a double, and an RBI. Other Lady Blazers providing offense were Jessica Eggold (0-3, RBI), Jor'Dan Orr (0-4, RBI), Lauren Biediger (1-4), and Mallory Meadows (1-3, double).

Game 3

Belhaven took the night cap on the first day as they defeated Kansas Wesleyan University 16-4 in a 5 inning game. Mallory Meadows took the victory as she pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing only 1 earned run and striking out 4. Salina Cervantes worked the final 2 2/3 innings allowing 3 earned runs with 4 strike outs.

Mallory Meadows anchored an offense that came out firing on all cylinders as they scored 11 runs in the first 2 innings.  Meadows finished the game 2-2, with a 2 run homerun and a 3 run homerun to collect 5 RBIs on the day. Other Lady Blazers providing offense were Britney Webb (1-3, walk, 2 stolen bases, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored), Jor'Dan Orr (0-3, walk, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored), Lauren Biediger (3-3, double, 2 RBIs, 3 runs scored), Salina Cervantes (1-1, walk, run scored), Meghan Pursell (2-4, RBI, 2 runs scored), Tiffany Ansley (3-4, double, RBI, 2 runs scored), and Jessica Wright (1-3, 2 RBIs).

Day 2; Game 1

Day 2 was disappointing for the Lady Blazers as they dropped a pair of games. The first game saw them lose a squeaker, 0-1, to Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Mallory Meadows took the loss as she allowed only 1 earned run, and struck out 4, through 3 1/3 innings of work. Sarah Burns closed the game out of the bullpen pitching 3 2/3 innings, striking out 6.

Game 2

Belhaven dropped their rubber game of the tournament as they lost 0-5 to Lubbock Christian University. Sarah Burns took the complete game loss as she allowed 5 earned runs and struck out 5.

The Lady Blazers were only able to muster 3 hits in the game. Tiffany Ansley logged a double, and Lauren Biediger and Keresa Steichen each picked up singles.

The Lady Blazer will be back at home on Tuesday as they welcome #1 Oklahoma City University to Freedom Ridge Park. Game times are set for 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
