The Rams manufactured four of their runs in the fourth inning, the first coming off Brett Barber’s bat as he singled in David Cramblitt. With Daine Soloman, who reached on a double, and Barber on second and first respectively, Matthew Sparks took a Chucky Benach pitch over the left field wall for a 4-0 Ram lead.

Mobile extended the lead in the sixth when Carlos Romero sent another Benach pitch out the park to right, this one a grand slam giving Mobile an 8-0 lead. David Cramblitt singled in Brett Barber for the second time in the game to put the Rams up 9-0.

Kevin Fontenot didn’t allow Mobile the shut out as he led off the Wolfpack’s half of the sixth with a first pitch solo shot to left that made the score 9-1 Mobile which would be the final score.

Loyola starting pitcher Chucky Benach (2-5) was tagged with the loss going 5.2 innings and giving up nine earned runs. Kevin Fontenot and Brian Mason each had two hits.

Ram starter Kit Powell (2-0) got the win going six innings with four strike outs but gave up the Fontenot homer. David Cramblitt and Daine Soloman each had three hits. Carlos Romero had four RBIs on the grand slam to lead team.

In the second game, Mobile used a six-run fourth inning, including a David Cramblitt homer, to bust the game open en route to an 11-4 decision.

Wolfpack starter Taylor Domengeaux (2-5) gave up six runs, four earned in 3.2 innings of work and picked up the loss. Kevin Fontenot, Bret Mahoney and Joe Atiyeh each had two hits for the Wolfpack (10-23, 6-18 GCAC) with Atiyeh knocking in two runs. Freshman second baseman Sam Dodge hit the first home run of his career to lead off the third inning.

Starter Justin Bracewell (7-1) got the game two win for the # 8 Rams (26-7, 20-1 GCAC) going five innings giving up one run, Dodge’s homer. Jared Baria picked up four base hits while Nelson Curry and Daniel Harper knocked in two RBIs each.

Wednesday night the Wolfpack will travel to Thibodaux to take on NCAA D-I squad Nicholls State. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. against the Colonels.
