Mobile, Ala. – No. 5 ranked William Carey University (30-7, 5-3 GCAC) swept both halves of a doubleheader at Spring Hill College on Tuesday by the scores of 2-0 and 7-1.

In the first game, the Lady Crusaders scored single runs in the first and last innings to blank the Lady Badgers 2-0 behind the pitching of Devin King who collected the complete-game victory.  King gave up six hits with no walks and a single strikeout to Spring Hill batters.  WCU second baseman Bree Neidhardt scored both runs off for the visitors and also picked up two hits and a stolen base.

For Spring Hill College, Brittany Abate (6-6) went the distance in the loss and allowed no earned runs, seven hits, two walks and a strikeout.

Spring Hill and William Carey found themselves tied at one after five innings in the second game when the Lady Crusaders erupted for a four run sixth inning and a two run seventh to salt away the contest 7-1.  In the sixth, leadoff singles and a sacrifice bunt by WCU led to a second-and-third situation with one out.  Two consecutive fielder's choices that failed to register outs resulted in two runs that were followed by a two-RBI base hit to left field by left fielder Tan Montgomery.  The seventh saw two more runs score off a controversial two-run double down the left field line by relief pitcher Brittany Fuller.

Katie McCrary was the winner for WCU and Samantha Brooks (10-11) took the complete game loss for SHC.  McCrary gave up four hits two, walks and two strikeouts while Brooks walked two, struck out three and surrendered 10 hits.

The Lady Badgers (18-24, 2-8 GCAC) wrap up the regular season at No. 10 the University of Mobile in doubleheader this Saturday at noon.
