Hattiesburg, Miss., The Belhaven College Softball Team (27-20, 6-4) accomplished a feat that no other team has accomplished in 2008, they swept William Carey university on the road Saturday. The Lady Crusaders came into the game with a home record of 13-1. The Lady Blazers shut out the Lady Crusaders by scores of 5-0, and 3-0.  

Game 1

Sarah Burns (16-9) took a complete game victory in game one, as she allowed no runs, in 7 innings, allowed no walks, and struck out 10.

Jor'Dan Orr paced the Lady Blazers offense in game 1 as she went 3 for 4 on the game with a double, a stolen base, and 2 runs scored. Meghan Pursell led the team in RBIs, as her bases loaded single in the first scored Jor'Dan Orr and Lauren Biediger for the game winning RBIs. Mallory Meadows also earned an RBI, as her double scored Jor'Dan Orr in the 7th.

Devin King took the loss for the Lady Crusaders as allowed 4 earned runs in 6 innings. Brittany Fuller pitched 1 inning of relief, striking out 1.

Game 2

Salina Cervantes (5-4) combined for the shut out win in game 2. Cervantes took the win with 5 innings pitched, giving up 4 hits, and 4 strike outs. Mallory Meadows earned her second save of the season as she pitched the final 2 innings, giving up 1 hit, and striking out 3.

Britney Webb and Mallory Meadows led the Lady Blazers' offense with 2-hit performances. Meadows and Jor'Dan Orr had the only 2 RBIs in the game as Meadows' fielder's choice scored Jor'Dan Orr in the 3rd, and Jor'Dan Orr's single scored Jessica Eggold in the 5th.

Brittany Ladner (12-3) pitched a complete game loss for the Lady Crusaders as she allowed 2 earned runs in 7 innings. She allowed 8 hits, with 2 strike outs.

The Lady Blazers will be back in action on Tuesday as they return to Freedom Ridge Park to play host to the William Carey Lady Crusaders in the final GCAC double header of 2008. Game time is set for 3:00 PM.
