Hattiesburg, MS- William Carey University opened their four game series with Spring Hill College by sweeping the Friday doubleheader 6-5 and 5-2.

In game one, Carey broke open a 1-1 tie with a three run third inning thanks to an RBI single by Louis Rolon and a two RBI double by David Trisler. The Badgers battled back and used a four run fourth to take a 5-4 lead.

 

Carey evened the game with a RBI single by Michael Lewis and scored the winning run with thanks to a RBI single by Sam Gates.

 

Michael Lewis led Carey at the plate with three hits, Greg Alexander and Louis Rolon each had two hits. Sam Gates picked up the win working three innings of relief to improve to 3-1 on the season.

 

In game two Carey rallied from a 1-0 deficit with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth on their way to 5-2 win. Michael Rozier allowed just four hits and two runs in a complete game effort as he picked up his third win of the season.

 

Lewis, Rolon, and Pat Barnes each had two hits for the Crusaders.

 

Carey and Spring Hill conclude their four game series tomorrow with at doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
