Clinton, MS- #13 William Carey University game against #5 Mobile in the 2008 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament was called after six innings with Mobile lead 5-3. Due to the inclement weather in the Jackson area the 2008 GCAC Tournament has been cancelled.

Carey and Mobile battled the rain all day long in an attempt to complete the game and the tournament. The first rain delay struck after fifth inning with Carey holding a 1-0 lead. The game resumed after a 30 minute delay and the Lady Crusaders promptly scored two runs to take a 3-0.

Mobile trimmed the lead to 3-2 with runs in the bottom half of the fifth and then capitalized off two Carey errors with two outs to score three runs in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead.

Any hopes of a Carey comeback were washed away in the top of the seventh as the rains returned and this time for good.

Jill Wedgeworth led Carey at the plate going 3 for 4 with double s and two runs scored. Starter Devin King was never the same after the delay and took the loss for the Lady Crusaders

With the loss Carey falls to 35-10 on the season.
