MOBILE, Ala-- Inclement weather in the Mobile, AL area today has cancelled the remainder of the 2008 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament. 2nd-seeded LSU-Shreveport and 3rd-seeded Belhaven College were all set to do battle in the championship bout at 1:00 pm today, but since they have both already clinched a bid to the 2008 Region XIII Tournament in Cleveland, TN, tournament leaders did not want to risk injury.

The Pilots were unbeaten at the tournament thus far, while the Blazers were 2-1, having only dropped a 4-0 game to William Carey on the opening day.

Regular Season GCAC Champ Mobile (42-14), LSU-Shreveport (44-14), and Belhaven (41-15) will all travel to Cleveland, TN to do play at the Region XIII Tournament. The winner of the tournament which features three teams from the GCAC and SSAC, will advance to a Super Regional, which is only one step away from the NAIA World Series.

Region XIII Tournament play will begin May 6th.
