ROME, Ga-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the young season by winning their second straight road game, beating 23rd-ranked Berry College 56-52 on day one of the Berry College Classic in Rome, Ga.

On a team filled with newcomers, seniors Sherri McIntosh and Danielle Goodly, and junior Gerica Johnson paced the Lady Rams. McIntosh put up and impressive double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds, while Johnson added 13 points and 9 boards. Goodly added 10 points and 6 assists.

The two teams jostled back and forth to a half time tie, and then did the same in the final half until Berry held a 50-47 lead with 4:35 remaining. Mobile answered back with back-to-back buckets from Sherri McIntosh to take a 51-50 lead with just-over 2 minutes remaining.

After Berry tied it at 51-51 on a free throw, the Lady Rams took the lead for good on a bucket from Johnitia Williams with 34 ticks remaining.

Mobile (3-0) next plays Saturday on the final day of the Berry College Classic against Shorter College at 6 pm.
