MOBILE, Ala-The University of Mobile women's basketball team used a big second half performance to take down University of West Alabama 75-53 Friday evening. The win is the second straight victory over an NCAA affiliate for Mobile.

The first half featured sloppy play early as the Lady Rams found themselves down 7-0 right off the bat, before rallying to take their first lead of the half at 15-14 when Sherri McIntosh scored with 10:52 remaining. The teams ten traded runs to close out the half, but Mobile had the last word as Gerica Johnson sank a buzzer-beating three-pointer for the 30-28 lead heading into the break.

 

Mobile then controlled the second half from the start at quickly put the game out of reach. The Lady Rams opened the half with a 22-6 run through the first 10 minutes of action to take command. From there, Mobile never led by less than 15 and built up a lead as large as 28 when Morgan Melancon assisted Gerica Johnson with 1:48 remaining.

 

Danielle Goodly led a quartet of Lady Rams with 21 points and 7 boards, while Gerica Johnson added 20 points, 8 steals and 6 rebounds. Sherri McIntosh produced a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Blair Stevens added 10 points off the bench for Mobile.

 

The Lady Rams (6-2) next play at home Tuesday, December 2 when University of West Florida visits for a 5:30 pm tip.
