Lambuth outscored the Wolfpack 20-4 in the first nine minutes of the game as Kayla Bryant capped the opening run with one of her five three pointers in the game at the 11:34 mark.
Loyola cut the lead to 12 points on three occasions in the first half. The last came with 5:53 to play in the stanza as a Trenese Smith steal led to a Laine Woodruff basket to cut the Lambuth advantage to 30-18.
The Eagles took a 20 point edge, 50-30, to the locker room with Kelly Hustedler hitting a shot in the paint as time expired.
The Wolfpack outscored Lambuth 42-33 in the second half and cut the lead to 12 points with 1:52 to play with a Trenese Smith three pointer.
Trenell Smith led the Wolfpack with 24 points on 7 of 16 shooting from the field. She converted 9 of 10 attempts from the free throw line. She has made 16 of 17 attempts from the line this season.
Trenese Smith added 19 points and five rebounds for the Wolfpack (0-2). Christine Mainguy had her first double double of the season with 12 points and a game high 17 rebounds. Seventeen rebounds tied a career high for the senior from Houston.
For Lambuth (4-1), Rachel Cunningham and Kayla Bryant each had 15 points. Cunningham shot 6 of 8 from the field. Bryant came off the bench and scored all her points from beyond the arc- successful on 5 of 6 attempts. Chyterra Kintchen rounded out the Lady Eagle leaders with 12 points. Lambuth forced 27 Loyola turnovers.
The Wolfpack concludes play in the Rotary Classic with a tilt against #3 Freed-Hardeman on Saturday. Tip off is slated for 5 p.m.
