GULF SHORES, Ala-- The 6th-ranked William Carey University Lady Crusaders routed Belhaven College 12-2 in five innings Saturday to win the 2009 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.  
Katie McCrary got the start for William Carey and hurled 4 innings of two-run, five-hit ball to pick up the victory for William Carey. Salina Cervantes took the loss for Belhaven after allowing five runs on four hits in one inning of work.
 
The Lady Crusaders pounded out 12 hits in the victory, led by Judy Barber's 3-for-3 4 RBI performance at the plate. Jeana Erickson and Larke Nightengale both finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and Tan Montgomery added a 2-for-2 effort. Erickson and Barber homered for William Carey. Heather Pace led Belhaven with a pair of hits.

William Carey did their scoring in bunches, starting the game with a five-run 1st and then putting the contest away for good with a six-spot in the 4th.
 

William Carey (38-6) will play in a NAIA Direct Qualification Tournament in Charleston, W.V. May 1-2. The Lady Crusaders will play the champs from the Sunrise and Frontier Conferences.
