The 2009 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year had a record-breaking season for the Pilots, hitting .455 at the plate, while slugging 21 home runs and driving in a NAIA-best 100 runs for the year. He led the Pilots and GCAC in batting average, home runs, RBIs, hits (95), doubles (21), total bases (187), slugging percentage (.895) and on-base percentage (.565). He also set seven different single-season school records (AVG, hits, HRs, RBIs, SLG%, OB% and total bases), three GCAC single-season records (HRs, RBIs and SLG%) and two LSUS career records (HRs and RBIs).
In addition to Brouillette, LSUS senior Brent Lavallee and sophomore Justin Ennis were selected as Honorable Mention All-Americans.
Lavallee, a native of North Delta, B.C., capped off a stellar career with career highs in batting average (.335), HRs (18) and RBIs (78) in 2009. His 18 home runs and 78 RBIs ranked him second on the team and in the GCAC behind Brouillette. Lavallee, who was also an All-GCAC First Team selection this season, is currently ranked second on the all-time LSUS home run chart with 28.
Ennis, a left-handed pitcher from Big Sandy, Texas, once again proved to be a dominant force on the mound and the LSUS pitching staff's workhorse in just his second season with the Pilots. He finished 2009 with a 9-1 win-loss record and a team-best 3.11 ERA. Ennis also led the Pilots in innings pitched (107), complete games (6) and strike outs (78). Through his first two seasons, he has posted a 16-4 overall record.
The All-America Teams consist of 17 members on the First Team, 17 on the Second Team and an Honorable Mention Team, which is limited to 34 players. The HM Team is not position-specific.
The 2009 NAIA Coach of the Year will be announced in early January at the ABCA Coaches Convention.
