PENSACOLA, Fla.- Sophomore Kate Imwalle from Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School ran the 7th best 5-kilometer time in SHC women's cross country history to lead the Lady Badgers at the University of West Florida on Saturday morning.
 

Imwalle clocked a time of 19:21.00 and placed 16th among 99 total runners. 

As a team, the Badgers placed 10th out of 12 teams, but came within two minutes of upsetting GCAC rival Xavier University-New Orleans and defeated Loyola University-New Orleans by more than two minutes. 

Spring Hill ran a total time of 1:49:54.10 with an average time of 21:58.82 while Xavier posted 1:48:27.00 for an average of 21:41.40. 

"We're ahead of where I thought we'd be at this point," commented SHC Head Coach Joe Williams.  "But we're still not where we want to be.  We'll get there, however.  Today I think our runners saw just how good we can be."

Other competitors for SHC were senior Kayla Fox (61st) from Dothan, Ala., at 22:13, freshman Kiearstan Carter (67th) from Murphy High with a time of 22:34, junior Ceci Venker of St. Louis (69th) at 22:41, sophomore Emily Stewart (76th) from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., at 23:05, sophomore Lynne Fritscher (77th) of Covington, La., at 23:25, sophomore Ashley Derenbecker (80th) from Bay St. Louis, Miss., at 24:03, freshman Julie Sellers (90th) from Lafayette, La., at 26:42, and Devanne Piccini (91st) from Grand Bay, Ala., at 27:00.

SHC next runs at the Mississippi College Choctaw Open in Clinton, Miss., on Saturday, October 17.
