HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The 19th ranked William Carey University Crusaders took a 4-1 win over Spring Hill College in men's soccer on Tuesday night.
 

WCU (8-2-3, 2-0 GCAC) opened the match with a goal by Carl Reynolds just 1:30 into the game and then made the score 2-0 only 30 seconds later with a goal by Joseph McNiell.

Spring Hill cut the lead in half with a goal in the 28th minute when freshman Trey Smith of Foley, Ala., scored his first career goal off an assist by sophomore Tyler King from Biloxi, Miss.

Carey used goals by Medy Lorius and Jasper Pykkola in the 76th and 90th minutes to seal the match away with the final score of 4-1.

SHC junior goalkeeper Cory Bronenkamp of St. Louis, Mo., made five saves against 16 WCU shot-attempts while his counterpart Sean Mapson recorded five saves for Carey versus just seven SHC shot-attempts.  WCU took seven corner kicks and SHC attempted just one corner play.

Spring Hill (2-10, 1-1 GCAC) will host non-conference opponent Thomas University (4-5) from Georgia at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Library Field.
