MOBILE, Ala. - The Spring Hill College Badgers picked up their first shutout victory of the season on Thursday night with a 1-0 home decision over Thomas University (Ga.).
 

Sophomore forward Gable Fortune of St. Louis, Mo., scored off an assist by freshman Andy Poveda of Niceville, Fla., in the 19th minute for the match's only score.

The second half was a defensive clash as both teams buckled down and refused to allow many offensive opportunities for their opponents.

In the end, SHC keeper junior Cory Bronenkamp of St. Louis made an impressive 10 saves against 16 Thomas shot-attempts while Jan Feldman made two saves against nine Badger shot-attempts.

SHC took two corner kicks and TU (4-6) took three corners.

Spring Hill (3-10, 1-1 GCAC) will travel to conference opponent No. 24 Belhaven College (7-3-2, 1-1 GCAC) for a 7 p.m. match on Tuesday in Jackson, Miss.
