MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Spring Hill College women's soccer team shutout Huntingdon College by a 3-0 score on Sunday afternoon.
Spring Hill scored in the match's 3rd minute when senior Allison Gilles put in a deflected ball following a corner kick.
 
Allison Akers extended the SHC advantage to 2-0 with a goal in the 62nd minute off assists by Katie Pendergast and Sarah Uptmor.
 
Jade Beason iced the contest in the 70th minute with a nifty 1-on-2 goal in which she outmaneuvered a Huntingdon defender and then beat the keeper to her right side.
 
SHC keeper Emma Pitchford of Ridgeland, Miss., picked up her fourth shutout of the year without facing a shot attempt while Huntingdon's Jenny Burnash made 11 saves against 24 Badger shot attempts.
 
The Badgers took nine corner kicks and didn't allow Huntingdon (4-9-2) a single corner play.
 
Spring Hill (7-7-1, 0-2-1 GCAC) will wrap up the 2009 regular season with a conference match at the University of Mobile (6-7-1, 1-1) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
