Clinton, MS - (Cross Country) The Dillard men's and women's cross country teams were in action this weekend, competing at the 2009 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championships.  The women finished seventh out of seven, with Ebone Pierce tying a team best in the women's 5,000 meter race.

Pierce, a freshman, was the first Lady Bleu Devil to cross the finish line with a time of 27:05, tying a season best mark set by teammate Jasmyne Fine at the  Gulf Coast Stampede, just weeks ago.  She placed 33rd out of 44 runners in the women's 5,000 meter race.  Following her were Taaler Johnson, a freshman, in 36th place with a time of 27:40, and junior Tiffany Young took 39th place in a time of 29:28.  Xavier's Ebony Harding ended her collegiate career by winning the women's race for the first time in 19:41, to help the Gold Nuggets to their fourth consecutive GCAC championship.

This weekend's event concludes the 2009 season for the Bleu Devils cross country teams.  Dillard track and field teams will open their season on January 15, 2010, at the McNeese State University Indoor Meet in Lake Charles, La.
