New Orleans, La. - The Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Lady Knights could not overcome an early 21-9 deficit to LSU-Shreveport (LSUS) in a 61-46 loss in The Castle on Saturday night.  SUNO (10-5, 4-5) was too sluggish in the beginning to get past LSUS (14-3, 7-2), who sits at third place in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.  SUNO had been on a 3-game winning streak.

Although SUNO got within 10 points halfway through the second half, LSUS pulled away for the victory.  By the time the game hit the 2:48 mark, the Lady Pilots were up 58-36 to finalize the win.  A combination of missed shots and turnovers contributed to the Lady Knights' loss.  SUNO was down 31-18 at the half, and was outscored 30-28 in the second half.

Jazzlyn Prince scored the most points for SUNO with 12.  Both LaTiondra Smith and Kiarra Sims had the most rebounds with 6.

Three Lady Pilots scored in double digits.  Leading the pack was Renalda Stafford with 12.  TiKandis Edwards had 11 points, and Tish Flowers put in 10.  Both Edwards and Sharday Cotton led in rebounds with 8 each.

SUNO begins a four-game home stand against Loyola on Thursday the 4th at 5:30 p.m.
