The Lady Pilots used accurate shooting in the first half to build a nine point lead at the half, 32-23. LSU Shreveport shot 59% in the first half going 13-22 from the field while Loyola shot 22% (7-31).
Valerie Huizar led the Lady Pilots in scoring after the first period with 10 points and 3 assists. TiKandis Edwards was strong for the navy and gold at post with nine rebounds and eight points in the first half. Callie Davis and Sharday Cotton each scored five points.
The Lady Pilots continued their success in the second half of play shooting 40% while Loyola was not as successful at 26%.
The navy and gold finished the game at 48% (26-54) from the field in the 19-point victory while Loyola shot 24% (14-57) which left plenty of rebounds up for grabs. The Lady Pilots won that battle 48-36. Loyola tried to get back in the game via the three-pointer but was unsuccessful shooting 23% (6-26).
The Lady Pilots finished the game with four scorers in double digits and had two with double-doubles.
TiKandis Edwards was the leading scorer for the Lady Pilots and the game with her 7th double-double in which she had secured early in the second half. Edwards finished the game with 18 points, 19 rebounds, and two assists in 36 minutes of play.
Callie Davis had 12 points in 20 minutes while Valerie Huizar had 12 points as well along with 7 assists in 33 minutes of action.
Sharday Cotton had 11 points and 11 rebounds in just 18 minutes of action to receive her 4th double-double on the season.
Keiva Council was the leading scorer for the Wolfpack with 17 points and six rebounds in 35 minutes while Trenese Smith played in 27 minutes and scored 16 points.
The next game for the Lady Pilots will be on Thursday night in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, versus the Lady Crusaders of William Carey University at 5:30 p.m.
