Coming into the game with 999 career points in only his second season, Brock quickly reached the milestone by scoring Loyola's first basket on a three-pointer. He finished the night with 12 points, while Torry Beaulieu led Loyola (13-10, 5-7 GCAC) with 13 points. Sean Bennett added nine points with Corey Gray and Cameron Cates coming off the bench with eight each.
LSU-Shreveport (22-2, 11-1 GCAC), who extended their winning streak to nine games, had four players in double figures led by Greg Shyne with a game high 20 points off the bench. Jared Stevenson and Brance Davenport scored 14 a piece, and Mark Jackson finished with 12.
The Pilots held the lead for almost the entire game, with Loyola going up 19-18 early on from a three-pointer by Chris Joseph. The Pilots' Derrick Parker scored on the next possession to spark an 8-0 run.
Ernie Pickens hit a three to put the Pilots up 30-20 with just under four minutes until half, and LSU-S would go into the break with a 35-29 lead.
After the intermission, LSU-S took a 46-35 lead on a three from Stevenson. Over the next two minutes, a Beaulieu basket and one started a 10-0 run to bring Loyola within one with 13:00 remaining. Bennett scored seven points during the stretch including a three to make the score 46-45.
The Pilots answered with their own run, scoring 11 straight points with a Shyne three-pointer capping it off to go up 57-45. Loyola was unable to get any closer than eight points, as LSU-S went on to win 81-65.
Loyola finished the night shooting 39 percent and was out rebounded 41-31. The Pilots shot an impressive 54 percent from the field.
The Wolfpack return to action on Thursday (Feb. 08) when the head across town to Dent Hall to face Dillard University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 P.M.
