New Orleans, La. - The SUNO Lady Knights put one back the "W" column on Monday night when they defeated the Spring Hill Lady Badgers 69-62 in The Castle. SUNO is now 5-7 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference and 11-7 overall.

The two teams played each other closely in the opening minutes of the game. Spring Hill (2-20, 0-12) managed to jump out to a 35-28 lead with 3:24 left in the first half, but SUNO closed the half out with a 38-37 advantage. 

It was in the second half that the Lady Badgers went cold. Having shot 50% from the field in the first half, Spring Hill only managed 25% from the field in the second half. SUNO was more successful on the boards as they out rebounded Spring Hill 43-33 with a 26-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The Lady Knights put the game to bed when they jumped out to a 61-46 lead with just over 9 minutes left in the game.

Freshman guard Tyesha Robinson led the Lady Knights in scoring with 15 points. LaTiandra Smith, a junior forward out of Southern University at Shreveport, led in rebounds with 12. Jazzlyn Prince had 11 points, and led in assists with 8. Prince also led in steals with 5.

Spring Hill's Lynleigh Hughes led the Lady Badgers in scoring with 16 points. Three other Spring Hill players scored in double digits. Jackie Higgenbotham had 15 while New Orleans native Robynetta Hargrave gave the Lady Badgers 12 points. Hargrave led in rebounds with 8.

The Lady Knights will host the Mobile Lady Rams on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
