The St. James native prepped at St. James High School and played in all 28 games this season for DU, starting in 26.  Mitchell averaged a team-leading 12.5 points per game and 57 steals.  Mitchell, who is majoring in public health, was also a preseason All-GCAC selection.       

Other hoopsters named to the team were Damara Bolton (Tougaloo), Charday Cotton (LSU-Shreveport), Keiva Council (Loyola), TiKandis Edwards (LSU-Shreveport), Jasmine Grant (Xavier), Alice Honnery (Mobile), Valerie Huizar (LSU-Shreveport), Victoria Jones (Tougaloo), Kim Lewis (William Carey), Alisha Mason (William Carey), Brittany Powell (Xavier), Jazzlyn Prince (Southern University at New Orleans), Trenese Smith (Loyola), and Jira Williams (Belhaven). 

Powell was also named GCAC Player of the Year and Xavier's head women's basketball coach, Robert "Bo" Browder, was voted Coach of the Year.  Additionally, Cotton was selected Newcomer of the Year and SUNO's Tyesha Robinson received Freshman of the Year honors.
