Shreveport, LA- The #9 LSU Shreveport Pilots (26-5) defeated the Belhaven Blazers (24-8) in the finals of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament in front of a standing room only crowd at the Dock on Tuesday night as they claimed their 5th straight GCAC Tournament Championship.

The first half saw 17 three-pointers between the two teams as the Pilots made nine of 17 while Belhaven made eight of 14 as the Blazers led at the half by five, 53-48.

The second half was as great as the first as the Pilots held the Belhaven to just one made free throw in eight attempts. The Pilots cooled down the three-point shooting of the blazer after they shot 57% in the first half to 12% in the second half.

The Pilots mad e the shots when they needed to as they shot 67%, making 19 of 28 from the field and finished at 55% for the game.

Brance Davenport was perfect from long range as he drained all five attempts which was included 12 out of 14 from the field. Davenport finished with 29 points, which led the team. He had one assist, one blocked shot, and one steal in 29 minutes.

Derrick Parker earned his 23rd double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Parker had five assists and four blocked shots in 34 minutes as he made eight out of 13 from the field and five of seven from the free-throw line.

Jared Stevenson had a great night as he scored 17 points after going three for eight from the three-point line. Stevenson clinched the game for the Pilots as he converted from the free-throw line to put the game away. He finished the game making eight out of ten from the charity stripe. He played 33 minutes in which he collected a team high, seven assists and had one steal.

John Anthony Anglin drained some big three-pointers at crucial parts of the game as he finished with nine points, as he went three for six. Anglin had one assist in 14 minutes.

Isiah Bazile was four of nine from the field and finished with eight points. Bazile had five assists in 29 minutes of action.

Greg Shyne and Jay Lincoln finished the game with five points each. Shyne was three of four from the free-throw line, had three assists, two blocked shots, and one steal in 19 minutes. Lincoln was two for three from the field and one for one from way downtown in 6 minutes.

Caleb Washington was two for three from the field and had eight rebounds. Washington had five assists and finished with four points in 17 minutes. Ernie Pickens scored three points in 11 minutes.

The next game for the Pilots will be at the Buffalo Funds-Division I's Men's Basketball National Championship in Kansas City, Mo. The opponent and time will be announced tomorrow.
