Shreveport, LA- The #18 LSU Shreveport Pilots (16-7, 9-6 GCAC) split a double header with the Loyola Wolfpack (7-15, 5-13 GCAC) on Saturday afternoon at Pilot Field. The Pilots took game one by a 9-8 decision and lost game two 11-3.

GAME 1

The Pilots got the first run of the afternoon in the bottom of the second inning after an RBI-triple from Kevin Smith to take a 1-0 lead. Brandon Bravata's solo-homerun in the bottom of the third inning extended the Pilot's lead to 2-0 after three.

Loyola scored two runs in the top of the fourth and six in the top of the fifth to take an 8-2 lead after four innings.

The Pilots rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on one big hit from Chase Wentz, a bases clearing triple to put the Pilot's back on top 9-8. The inning escalated as the Pilots took advantage on four hit batters by Loyola pitching and two walks.

Corey Theriot came in to slam the door on Loyola as he struck out the final two batters in the top of the seventh to earn his third save of the year.

Richard Pharr (1-0) picked up the win in relief, as he pitched one and two-thirds and struck out one. John James was lifted after four and a third as he allowed only four hits, seven runs but only three were earned. James walked two and struck out two.

Brandon Bravata was one for three with two RBI's while Chase Wentz was one for four with three RBI's and had the game-winning hit.

The Pilots scored nine runs on four hits and made five errors in the field while Loyola scored eight runs on eight hits and made one error.

GAME 2

Taylor Domengeaux (2-0) was a one man wrecking crew for the Pilots offense as he pitched the complete game for Loyola throwing 165 pitches. Domengeaux scattered nine hits, allowed three earned runs, walked six, and struck out eight to pick up his second win of the season.

The Pilots only runs came in the first two innings as Andrew Brouillette drove in a run with an RBI-single in the bottom of the first while Shawn Moy had an RBI-triple in the bottom of the second inning but it was all Loyola after that.

The Wolfpack scored six runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the eighth, and one in the ninth to get the win.

Loyola scored 11 runs on 15 hits and made four errors in the field while the Pilots scored three runs on nine hits and played an error-free game defensively.

Brandon Bravata was two for five while Andrew Brouillette provided most of the offense with a three for four performance and an RBI. Curtis Beaudoin was the only other Pilot with double digits hits, two for five.

The next game for the Pilots will be on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at Bringhurst Field in Alexandria versus Louisiana College. There will be 1,500 youngsters on hand for D.A.R.E. day to watch the Pilots and the Wildcats.
