New Orleans, LA - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently announced that Dillard women's basketball player Syrena Edwards has been named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete.
 

The NAIA recognized 120 student-athletes from across the country.  Student-athletes must be nominated by their head coach and have achieved junior academic status, maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.  The Campti, La., native qualified with a 3.65 GPA.   

Edwards transferred to Dillard from Southern University at Shreveport and will graduate this spring with a bachelor's degree in accounting.  She has plans to become a certified public accountant.
