Kansas City, MO-The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 2009-2010 Women's Division I All-American Teams on Tuesday afternoon. Victoria Jones was named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention for her efforts in helping the Lady Bulldogs to a 16-15 overall record and an 11-7 conference record; the first winning season the Lady Bulldogs have had in at least seven years.
Jones, a 5'10 sophomore forward from Saginaw, MI, finished the season averaging 14.07 points a game and 11.32 rebounds a game. Jones ranks #5 in the conference in scoring and #1 in the conference in rebounds (#3 in the NAIA). Jones also finished with 18 double doubles on the season (#1 in the conference and #3 in the NAIA). Jones recorded a career high 31 points and 27 rebounds this season. Last season, Jones broke the conference record for most rebounds in a single game when she grabbed 25 rebounds in a single game. This season, she has broken her own record with 27 rebounds in a single game. For these efforts and others, she was selected to the 2009-2010 GCAC All-Conference team.
Last season, Jones was selected to the All-Conference team and was selected GCAC Freshman of the Year. Last season Jones finished the season averaging 14.19 points and 14 rebounds a game. She led the NAIA in rebounds a game. Jones came to Tougaloo last season as a freshman from Arthur Hills High School in Saginaw, MI. Jones is very excited about her accomplishments thus far and looks forward to carrying the Lady Bulldogs to a successful season next year.
