The wind blew out to left the whole game and both teams took advantage as the game saw a total of six homeruns between the two clubs; two from William Carey and four from the Pilots. Both of William Carey's homers were solo shots while the Pilots did more damage with their long balls hitting two two-run dingers and two three run blasts.
The Crusaders scored the game's first run in the top of the first after an RBI ground out from Garrett Braley. Then they added another run in the top of the second with a solo homer from Will Dannelley.
Josh Dannelley hit the other solo round tripper in the top of the fourth inning to increase the William Carey lead to 3-0.
The Pilots pounded the baseball in the bottom of the fourth scoring seven runs on seven consecutive hits, three of which were long balls. Kevin Smith continued to stay hot at the plate with another homer, this being a two-run shot to trim the WCU lead to one, 3-2.
Chase Wentz followed, ripping a single to left to set the table for Curtis Beaudoin who hit a two-run round tripper over the left field wall to give the Pilots their first lead of the night, 4-3. Shawn Moy and David Morgan each singled to bring Stephen Hobbins to the plate with only one out.
Hobbins hit the 2-1 pitch over the left field wall for a three-run tater and extend the Pilot's lead to 7-3 after four complete innings of play.
Neither team scored again until the Pilot's rally in the bottom of the seventh inning that ended the game via the ten-run rule. The home team scored six runs of five hits to finish off the Crusaders.
Ricky Sanders hit a three-run homer to left to give the Pilots an 11-3 lead. Two batters later the Pilots started a two-out rally as Moy singled followed by a walk to Morgan. Hobbins singled and then the Pilots scored a run on Bravata's walk to put the winning run at third with two outs.
Andrew Blubaugh hit the center field wall to score Morgan for the ten-run rule to take effect.
Justin Ennis (6-0) picked up the win for the Pilots as he tossed six strong innings. He allowed three hits, three earned runs, walked three, and struck out three. Turner Brasher pitched the seventh inning in relief allowing no hits.
Matt Carter was saddled with the loss for the Crusaders after giving up seven earned runs in three and a third innings pitched. Sean Carter threw three innings out of the pen allowing two earned runs. Wil Mann followed and gave up four earned runs. Matt McCulloch was on the mound when the Pilots ended the game in the seventh but those runs were charged to Mann.
Brandon Bravata was two for three with a RBI while Andrew Blubaugh went two for four with one RBI.
Kevin Smith was one for three with two RBIs as Ricky Sanders was one for one with three RBIs. Curtis Beaudoin drove in a pair and went one for four.
Shawn Moy was two for three while Stephen Hobbins drove in three and had two hits in four trips.
LSU Shreveport have now won five games in a row and are now tied with William Carey for second place in the GCAC.
