Chad McDowell completed his 7th season as the Head Coach at LSU Shreveport and led the Pilots to an overall record of 27-6 and 14-4 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. McDowell led the Pilots to their 4th GCAC Regular Season Championship, their 5th straight conference tournament title, and their sixth straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
Derrick Parker, a sophomore from Minden, Louisiana, hadan amazing 24 double-doublesfinishing the year ranked in the NAIA Division I: #2 in Defensive rebounds per Game (7.828), #2 in Total Rebounds per Game (11.655), #3 in Total Rebounds (338), #5 in Total Blocks (63), #6 in Blocks per Game (2.172), #7 in Offensive Rebounds per Game (3.828), #12 in Total Scoring (554), #13 in Field Goal Pct. (.583) and #15 Points per Game (19.103).
Parker now adds Small College Player of the Year to an already impressive 2009-2010 resume' which included; 2009-2010 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year(Unanimous selection), 2009-2010 All GCAC Team, NAIA NationalPlayer of the Week(Jan. 15), GCAC Player of the Week-4 Times, 1 of 3 players up for NAIA National Player of the Year.
McDowell and Parker will receive their awards at the LABC's 36th Annual Awards Banquet in May in Baton Rouge.
