The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced today the players of the
week for the week ending April 4, 2010.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Burns # 3 of Belhaven - MS- Winner at the Conference level
Notes: Burns earned a win and save against the University of Mobile running her record to 15-2 this season.

Judy Barber # 9 of William Carey - MS- Winner at the Conference level
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
John James #46 of LSU-Shreveport- Winner at the Conference level
Notes: James improved to 7-0 with Saturday's win over William Carey.
Baseball Player of the Week
Timmy Foster #25 of Belhaven - MS- Winner at the Conference level
Notes: Foster had three home runs, 7 RBI's and went 6 for 9 at the plate against Delta State University and Union University. Foster had a grand slam in Belhaven's loss to Delta State who is ranked 18th in the latest NCAA Division II Poll.

Cameron Smith # of Mobile - AL- Winner at the Conference level
Men's Tennis - Player of the Week
Hassan Abbas # of Xavier - LA- Winner at the Conference level
Notes: Abbas closed the Gold Rush's California trip with consecutive victories against NAIA top-20 singles players. Abbas defeated #18 Lucas Pereira of Vanguard and #9 Augusto Elias of Concordia in straight sets. All four of Abbas' singles opponents this week were ranked in the top 20. All four teams are in the NAIA top 10. Abbas also played No. 2 doubles with Sean Richardson for the first time this season and recorded victories on consecutive days. The first victory came against Aaron Frantz and Jose Hilla of top-ranked and defending NAIA champion Fresno Pacific.
Women's Tennis - Player of the Week
Rachel Hartley # of Mobile - AL- Winner at the Conference level
Notes: Under the direction of coach Matthew Hicks, Hartley and the Lady Rams defeated NCAA II University of Montevallo 5-4. Hartley teamed up with Zelie Pfeiffer for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles and a match-clinching 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.
