Freshman Wanda Burkes turned in a season best performance in the women's 100 meter race with a time of 13.05, for 18th place out of 24 runners. She improved her previous mark of 13.15 set at the LSU Invitational three weeks ago. On the men's side, freshman Byron Myles also finished 18th, out of 22 racers, with a time of 4:56.35 in the men's 1500 meters.
Other notables included freshman Jonquil Griffin who, competing in a field of 20 in the women's 400 meter final, finished in 1:03.42 for 14th place. Conference rival Xavier University of Louisiana shocked NCAA- Division I schools in the women's 4x400 meter relay final by taking first place with a time of 3:56.91.
Bleu Devil track and field will compete this weekend, April 17, at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet at Bernie Moore Stadium.
