Game One
Freed Hardeman took a 2-0 lead after getting two runs with three hits in the bottom of the second. However, the Blazers took control of the game in the top of the fourth as Belhaven tallied up seven runs with six hits and five errors.
Belhaven added on two more runs with three hits in the top of the fifth inning beginning with an Ansley homerun over the left field fence on a 1-0 count making the score 8-2. The Lions tried to make a late rally by adding three more runs in bottom of the seventh. However, it was not good enough as the Blazers topped Freed-Hardeman University 9-5.
Salina Cervantes pitched two innings for the Blazers and gave up three runs and allowed three hits. Sarah Burns pitched five innings of game one and gained a win allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out four to improve to 24-3.
Britney Caldwell picked up the loss for the Lions striking out one with nine runs and 12 hits allowed. The offensive attack was led by Sanders who went 2 for 3 at the plate with two RBI's.
Game Two
Belhaven came out on fire in game two and jumped on the scoreboard early as they put five runs on the board with five hits in the top of the first inning. In the fourth inning, Belhaven added three more runs as Jaques hit a 2 RBI triple to deep right-center plating Lizzy Hess and Webb. Jaques scored as Ansley grounded out to the pitcher making the score 8-0.
Rebecca Roussesau pitched the entire game for the Blazers and did not give up any runs and allowed four hits with two strikeouts to get the win and improve to 13-3. Britney Caldwell picked up the loss for the Lions.
Offensively, the Blazers were led by Jaques who had a huge
game and went two for three at the plate with three runs batted in followed by
Ansley with 2 RBI's.
