SHREVEPORT, La.- The #12 LSU Shreveport Pilots (41-10, 24-7 GCAC) swept the University of Mobile Rams (20-31, 13-20 GCAC) in a double header at Pilot Field on Friday afternoon by final scores of 5-4 in game one and 18-1 in game two.

GAME 1

The Pilots out hit the Rams 10 to seven and used a walk-off walk with the bases loaded to win their 40th game of the season.

John James (10-1) picked up the win for the Pilots with another stellar performance. He threw his seventh complete game, tossing seven innings and allowing seven hits, four earned runs and struck out five in his walk-free performance.

"John did another great job for us on the mound. He made some mistakes but he did a great job of bouncing back to overcome them. He was able to hit the zone with all of his pitches and that is why he is so effective," said head coach Rocke Musgraves.

Mobile reliever, John Ladnier (4-4), suffered the loss in an inning and a third out of the pen. Starter Chris Peacock lasted five innings, scattering nine hits, allowing four earned runs, walking two and striking out two.

The Pilots got on the board in the second inning after Chase Wentz's triple to right center, Shawn Moy drove him in with a single to right center to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

Mobile tied the game in the third with a solo-home run from Cody Barber. The Pilots answered in the bottom of the inning after an RBI-double from Andrew Brouillette to retake the lead 2-1.

Stephen Hobbins drove in a run with a single in the fourth inning to extend the Pilot's lead to 3-1 after four complete innings of play.

The Rams began their come back in the top of the fifth as they posted one run in each of their final three at-bats to tie the game in the seventh with a solo homer from Michael Tedesco with one out. The Pilots got out of the inning without any further damage.

With one out Andrew Blubaugh tripled to right center to set up back-to-back intentional walks to Andrew Brouillette and Kevin Smith to bring Chase Wentz to the plate with the bases loaded and only one out.

The count was two balls and two strikes when John Ladnier's fastball came in too far and hit Wentz to force in the game-winning run.

Chase Wentz was two for three with the game-winning RBI and two runs scored while Shawn Moy drove in a pair after going two for three at the dish as well.

David Morgan also finished the game two for three at the plate while Stephen Hobbins had a run batted in with his only hit in three trips.

GAME 2

The Pilots dominated the second game pounding out 21 hits and scoring 18 runs in rout of Mobile, 18-1. Mobile got on the board with a run in the fifth inning to trim the Pilot's lead down to five when the tarp was brought on the field to catch the incoming shower.

Moments after the tarp was on the field a heavy downpour pounded the tarp for about 15 minutes and then the sun came out and play was able to resume. The Pilots rallied after the shower scoring 12 runs combined between the fifth and the sixth innings to blow the game open.

Justin Ennis (9-0) remained unbeaten as he picked up the win for the Pilots after throwing five solid innings allowing just four hits, no earned runs, one walk and five strike outs.

"Ennis had great stuff today and kept their offense at bay until ours opened up the lead. After we scored seven in the fifth we were able to get him out of there, although he was ready to go back, but we didn't have to chance it and now he will be well rested for the conference tournament," said Musgraves.

Jason Mouton fired a one-two-three sixth inning and then Trevor Stennett struck out two of the three hitters he faced in the seventh to close out the game.

Brandon Bravata led-off the first with a solo homer to left to give the Pilots an early 1-0 lead but they were not finished as Chase Wentz singled home a run to make it a 2-0 advantage.

The Pilots got another two in the second with David Morgan's two-run blast to double the lead to 4-0 after two complete.

Kevin Smith's two-run homer to the opposite field in the third inning made it 6-0 until Mobile scored one run in the fifth before the rain came to trim the lead back to five, 6-1.

The Pilots offense erupted after the brief shower and scored seven runs in the fifth to take a 13-1 lead. Chase Wentz had a RBI-single while Matt Bagley drove in two with his base hit. David Morgan then doubled home a run and Kevin Smith later singled in a run as well.

Five more came across the plate for LSUS in the sixth as Brandon Bravata cleared the bases with a three-run triple to the right-center field gap. Andrew Blubaugh and Grant Brandon both drove in a run with singles to give the Pilots an 18-1 lead after six complete innings of play.

Brandon Bravata set the tone for this one early as he finished the game three out of four with four RBIs and three runs scored. Andrew Blubaugh was two for four with two runs scored and had one RBI.

Andrew Brouillette had two hits in three trips to the plate with one RBI while Kevin Smith drove in three and was two for three with two runs scored.

Chase Wentz had another great game at the dish with three hits in four tries with two RBIs and a run scored. He finished the day five for seven with three RBIs.

Matt Bagley has swung a hot bat all year and was three for five today with two RBIs and three runs scored while David Morgan was two for three with three RBIs and two runs scored. He finished the day four for six.

The Pilots will now have to wait and see what the Blazers of Belhaven do tonight in New Orleans against Loyola to see who is in first place in the GCAC after today. If the Blazers drop one game today then LSUS would claim the top spot heading into the final day of the regular season.

The final game of the 2010 regular season will be tomorrow with the first pitch to be tossed at 11 a.m. It will be Youth Baseball Day at the park as well as Senior Day. All youth baseball player who wears their uniform will be admitted to the game free along with two adults with each player.

The Pilots will also be honoring their nine seniors for Senior Day before the game.
