SHREVEPORT, La.- The LSUS Pilot's first baseman, Kevin Smith, was named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his performance on the diamond last week as he set the pace as the Pilots as they won four out of five games. He finished the week seven for 14 at the dish with two round trippers and eight runs batted in.

Smith, a junior from Tacoma, Washington, was two for six at Texas Wesleyan. He hit a solo homer in the six inning off the Ram's reliever in game one and had a double in game two.

In the series against Mobile he was five out of eight with a homerun and seven RBIs. In game two he was two for three with a double, a two-run blast, and three RBIs. He was perfect at the plate in game three with a double and four RBIs after a three for three performance.

The next game for Smith and the Pilots will be on Thursday afternoon at Smith Will Stadium in Jackson, Mississippi, against the Mobile Rams at 2:30 p.m. in the first round of the GCAC Tournament.
