SHREVEPORT, La.- The LSU Shreveport Pilots baseball team remains as the 12th team in the nation according to the most recent release of the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

The Pilots improved their record to 42-10 after a successful week of 4-1. LSUS split the double header at Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday while sweeping the Mobile Rams in the final weekend GCAC series at Pilot Field.

Currently the 12th ranking would earn the Pilots a #2 seed in the National Championship Opening Round bracket. Being a 2-seed could earn the Pilots another trip to the Oklahoma City regional which is where they went last season.

Another possibility as the # 2 seed would be Lubbock Christian, the defending National Champion.

The Pilots could possibly impress the pollsters enough to be voted in the top 10, by winning the GCAC Tournament, in the final release of NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll on May 11th. A spot in the top 10 in the final top 25 poll would earn the Pilots a #1 seed for the opening round.

"The conference tournament is huge for us in determining where we will go for the regionals. If we are a two then we could go back to Oklahoma City or possibly to Lubbock. If we get a one seed, then we may go to Missouri or maybe Georgia," said LSUS head coach Rocke Musgraves.

The Pilots have won three of the last four GCAC Tournaments, including three straight from 2005-2008.

"We have had success in the tournament and I think this team has the potential to win it this year," said Musgraves.

The Pilots will take the field on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. against the Mobile Rams. All games will be played at Smith Wills Stadium in Jackson, Mississippi.
