Jackson, Miss.- Despite a game high 15 points from Daniel Schmidt, Loyola fell to Tougaloo 61-59 Saturday night in Jackson.

Schmidt was 5 of 9 in shooting form the field and 4 of 7 from behind the arc.  James Olivard had 14 points and a game high seven rebounds.  Luke Zumo finished with 10 to round out the leaders for the Wolfpack (11-19, 4-14).

For Tougaloo (11-18, 5-13), Marquis Lowe, Donta Yates, and Dennis Holder each had 12 points for the Bulldogs.

“It was a disappointing loss and we lost focus on what we were doing in the first half and they capitalized.  Our defensive intensity was not there tonight in the second half.  We made a run late in the game, but it was just a bit short,” said Loyola head coach Michael Giorlando.

Loyola will return to action on Tuesday in the GCAC Tournament.  The game time and opponent will be announced on Sunday.  Tuesday’s games will be played at Dillard with the remaining games being held at Fogelman Arena on Tulane’s campus.
