
NEW ORLEANS, LA-Dillard University Bleu Devil track runner, Runell King highlighted the Annual Dillard University Athletic Award Ceremony last week, receiving the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award honor for achieving the highest cumulative grade-point average. The event was held in the Georges auditorium of the Professional Schools and Sciences Building.
Runell, a junior sociology major, had a cumulative grade point average of 3.9. He also played an intricate part in helping the Bleu Devils men's track and field team capture the 2010-11 GCAC Men's Track & Field Conference Championship.
Dillard women' basketball manager Amber Tramel was voted Champions of Character Athlete of the Year. This award is given to the scholar-athlete who best exemplified the five core values of the champions of character program during the year. Tramel was recently voted as Miss Junior Class attendant for 2012-13.
