Marion, IN - The Dillard University men's and women's track team earned All-American honors at the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championship that was held on May 24-26. The event was hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University at the Outdoor Sports Complex in Marion, Indiana.
The women's 4 x 100 meter relay team consisting of Laquanda James, Sandreka Keller, Courtney Henry and Destinee Showell placed eighth overall in the 4 x 100 meter relay finals on Saturday. The 4 x 100 meter relay team entered nationals ranked ninth in the nation.
The men's 4 x 400 meter relay team consisting of Matthew Jones, Emory Nash, Darius Neely and Jevonte' Ezzard placed fourth overall in the 4 x 400 meter relay finals on Saturday. The 4 x 400 meter relay team entered nationals ranked sixth in the nation. The relay team, however, ran their best time in the semi-finals on Friday finishing with the best time of the meet (3:11) and earning the number one seed going into the finals. The time of 3:11 was a personal best for the season.
This marks the best season for Head Coach Bobby Williams, who is in his third year with the program. In his three years, he has won two conference championships (2011 GCAC Men's Track Champions and 2012 GCAC Women's Track Champions). Now he can add eight All-Americans to his resume'.
