Tougaloo, MS-The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) recently announced its players of the week for the week ending September 2, 2012.  Tougaloo's Dayane Souza grabs Volleyball Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in helping the Lady Bulldogs to the best start in school history.

Souza, a 5'9 senior OH/DS from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, came to the Lady Bulldogs program last season from Laramie County Community College.  In her first season with the Lady Bulldogs, Souza grabbed GCAC All-Conference honors and GCAC All-Tournament honors.  This season, she is starting on the right track towards receiving those honors again. 

This past weekend, Souza helped the Lady Bulldogs to one of the best starts in school history, winning three games this weekend to improve to a 3-2 record.  In their win over Miles College, Souza led the team with 12 kills, 7 digs and 4 assists.  In their win over the host Stillman College, Souza led the Lady Bulldogs again with 9 kills, 4 digs and 2 service aces.  Souza was also instrumental in the win over Concordia College Selma.
