Both of Dillard University's cross country teams began its season Saturday at the Wolfpack Invitational at Lafreniere Park in Metairie.
On the men's side, a total of 72 runners battled in competition, and a total of nine teams participated in the annual cross country meet including the University of New Orleans, the University of Mobile, Loyola University, Spring Hill College, William Carey University, Millsaps College, Mississippi College and Xavier University of New Orleans.
Jevonte Ezzard crossed the finish line first for the Bleu Devils as he posted a time of 19:08. Emory Nash finished just moments later with a time of 19:51. Next it was Daniel Gibson, Rudy Garza, and Tobyus Simmons who crossed the finish line for Dillard University as they posted times of 23:41, 24:31 and 25:21 respectively. Shortly after, Wendell Collins, Matthew Jones and Sean Wilson completed the race with times of 26:04, 26:17 and 26:17 respectively. The Bleu Devils finished in eighth place.
Dillard's next cross country meet will be on September 22 at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Invitational in Baton Rouge.
