Volleyball - Tue, Sep. 18, 2012

Tougaloo, MS-The Tougaloo College Volleyball team hosted its cross town rival, Belhaven University, in a match at the Dawg Pound.  The Lady Bulldogs fell short to the Lady Blazers 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-11) to drop to 7-5 on the season.

Coming off a good weekend at Rust College Tournament, the Lady Bulldogs were looking to continue its winning streak with a win over their cross town rivals, the Lady Blazers.  The Lady Bulldogs (7-5) would have a great start, but the Lady Blazers (10-2) would give the Lady Bulldogs a fight, as they would take set one 25-21.  In the next two sets, the Lady Blazers would dominate the Lady Bulldogs, taking set two 25-18 and easing pass the Lady Bulldogs 25-11 in set three to win the match.

Leading the Lady Bulldogs was Dayane Souza with 9 kills and 10 digs.  Briana Murphy tacked in 4 kills, 6 digs, and 4 blocks; Marcella Oliveira chipped in 4 kills and 8 digs; Thamy Soares added 4 kills and Mariana Candelot had 19 assists.  The Lady Bulldogs will kick off conference action Thursday, September 20th as they are back on the road headed to Little Rock, AR to take on Philander Smith College.  Game time is set for 7:00 P.M.
