Jessica Goods-Morris delivers a monster smash.
Volleyball - Fri, Sep. 21, 2012
The Lady Bleu Devils of Dillard University fell to crosstown rivals Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) in three sets (25-12, 25-17 25-13) in front of a packed crowd at the "Battlefield" on the campus of Dillard University.

The Lady Bleu Devils (0-1, 0-1) played their first game of the season while the Lady Knights (8-2, 1-0) enjoyed their eight victory of the season.

Middle blocker Sabrina Scott let the way for the Lady Knights as she produced seven kills.  Outside hitter Zipporah Washington followed with six kills.

For the Lady Bleu Devils, setter Courtney Devold led the way with five assists and on the receiving end of some of those assists was middle blocker Jessica Goods-Morris, middle blockers Aisha Ogbeveon and Jamara Celistan, all with three kills each.

Goods-Morris, a senior from Houston, Texas, also had three solo blocks to add to her three kills.

The Lady Bleu Devils simply could not bounce back from the mistakes made on the night; a total of 12 errors kept Dillard from winning a set.  However, Dillard had a five point lead in the second set until SUNO stormed back with a six point surge, and continued the dominance throughout the match.

The Lady Bleu Devils look to bounce back on Saturday as they travel to Jacksonville, Florida, to face Edward Waters College for more Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) play.
