At times the Lady Bleu Devils showed signs of
life, but struggled to win a set on the road and fell in three sets (25-13,
25-13, 25-13) to Spring Hill College in Alabama.
The Lady Bleu Devils (1-2 overall, 1-1 GCAC) played their first non-conference
game of the season.
The Badgers (14-3) scored eight straight points
to pull away from Dillard in the first set, and used a powerful 6-0 run in the
second set to extend their lead, and then put their stamp on the game with an
11-0 run in the third and final set.
The Lady Bleu Devils were led by freshman right side hitter Aisha
Ogbeveon as she contributed with four kills, 27 receptions and nine digs. Senior middle blocker Jessica Goods-Morris
had a huge night on the defensive end as she chipped in with four solo blocks
and also added four kills for Dillard University. Freshman setter Shelbi White dished out a
team high 11 assists on the evening.
The Lady Bleu Devils look to bounce back on Thursday night as they
travel to Alabama to face Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) opponent
Talladega College (9-6 overall, 2-0 GCAC).
