Tougaloo, MS-Hoping to continue its winning streak and remain untouched in conference play, the Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lady Bleu Devils of Dillard University in conference action today in the Dawg Pound.  The Lady Bulldogs would accomplish their goal as they would defeat the Lady Bleu Devils 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23) to advance to 11-6 overall, 4-0 in conference play.

After getting man handled by the Lady Bleu Devils for the past two years, the Lady Bulldogs were seeking revenge on the the Lady Bleu Devils this season, as this would be the only regular season meeting between the two teams.  Starting off in the opening set, the Lady Bulldogs made it look easy, as they would have control of the entire set, taking a 1-0 lead over the Lady Bleu Devils by a score of 25-16. 

In set two, however, the Lady Bleu would regroup and come back strong as ever, a little too strong for the Lady Bulldogs as they would even the match at 1-1 with a set win of 25-20.  In set three, the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Bleu Devils would fight it out, but it would be the Lady Bulldogs that would get the 25-23 set win to go up 2-1.  In the final set, the Lady Bleu Devils would try to force the match into a set five, but the Lady Bulldogs were not letting that happen, as they would steal the set 25-23 to get the match victory and defeat the Lady Bleu Devils for the first time in school history.

The Lady Bulldogs was led by Dayane Souza, who had a match high 24 kills and 29 digs.  Marcella Oliveira tacked in 13 kills and 22 digs and Briana Murphy chipped in 10 kills and 9 blocks.  Mariana Candelot added 42 assists for the Lady Bulldogs.  The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday as they host Rust College and Mississippi College in a tri-match.  Rust College and Mississippi College will play at 3:00 P.M., the Lady Bulldogs will play Rust College at 5:00 P.M. and Mississippi College at 7:00 P.M. in the Dawg Pound.
