Women's Basketball - Wed, Oct. 3, 2012

On Monday, October 1st, the 2012-13 GCAC preseason all-conference basketball teams were announced. With it, three outstanding athletes were selected from our very own Panther Pride! The GCAC 2012-13 Preseason All-Conference squad consists of three Philanderians: one women's basketball player-Caryan Jones, and two men's basketball players-Juvon Demerson and Damarkus Lipscomb.

Caryan Jones, a 5'4 sophomore point guard from Star City, AR, had a breakout season last year. During 2011-12, Jones averaged 33 minutes, 15 points, four steals, and four assists per game. This performance led her to become a member of the All-Conference team, earning Freshman of the Year and First-team All Conference honors. Jones is expected to be a strong leader and contributor for the Lady Panthers this year.

Juvon Demerson, a 6'11" junior center from Midland, TX, is a transfer from Southern Arkansas University who is expected to provide the Panthers with a strong offensive and defensive presence in the low-post area. At SAU, he averaged 24 minutes, five rebounds, and nine points per game.

Last, but definitely not least, Damarkus Lipscomb, a 5'9" senior point guard from North Little Rock, AR is sure to be a great asset and leader for the Panther basketball team this year. Lipscomb in one of the top defensive players in the GCAC conference, averaging 35 minutes and 11.5 points per game last year. He also recorded an impressive 102 steals and 159 assists on the season.

This year, the Panthers and Lady Panthers are getting ready for an exciting season. Both teams have increased their ranks and expectations for the upcoming athletic year. With continued support from the PSC athletic and academic communities, Panther Pride is sure to be in full effect.

Tentative schedules for both teams are available on PSC's athletic website. Stay tuned for updates.
