Memphis, TN-The Tougaloo College Volleyball team traveled to Memphis, TN to take on Victory University.  The Lady Bulldogs escaped a scare and defeated the Lady Eagles in five sets (23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 12-25, 15-10) to advance to 16-7 overall.

After defeating the Lady Eagles in five sets earlier in the season, the Lady Bulldogs were hoping to put away the Lady Eagles in straight sets, but the Lady Eagles would have a different plan.  The Lady Eagles wouldn't waste anytime jumping on the Lady Bulldogs, as they would take an early lead, but just like the Lady Bulldogs always does, they would fight back.  The Lady Bulldogs would tie the game at 23, but the Lady Eagles would get two straight kills to take the set 25-23.  In sets two and three, however, the Lady Bulldogs would turn things around and go up 2-1 with 25-18 wins in both sets.

In set four, the Lady Bulldogs were looking to put the Lady Eagles away, but the Lady Eagles wasn't laying down and the Lady Eagles would destroy the Lady Bulldogs in set four 25-12 to even the score at 2-2 and take the match into a fifth set.  The Lady Bulldogs would win the toss, serving first.  The Lady Eagles would take the early lead, but the Lady Bulldogs would rally back once again to take the lead.  The Lady Bulldogs would score 8 points first, and the sides would change.  The Lady Eagles would try to come back, but the Lady Bulldogs would hold on to escape with the 15-10 win and the victory over the Lady Eagles.

Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs was Dayane Souza with 16 kills and 38 digs.  Marcella Oliveira followed with 16 kills and 23 digs.  Jana Williams chipped in 8 kills, 28 digs, and 4 blocks.  Briana Murphy and Mariana Candelot both added 5 kills apiece, with Candelot having 39 assists and Murphy having 5 blocks.  The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, October 19th as they play host to Stillman College and Spring Hill College.  The Lady Bulldogs will play Stillman College at 3:00 P.M. and Spring Hill College at 6:00 P.M.
