Lawrenceville, Ga. – The No. 2-ranked Edward Waters College Lady Tigers (26-24) softball team made short work of conference rival Talladega Lady Tornadoes (16-35) in the semi-final round of the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) Softball Tournament in at Grizzly Softball Complex at Georgia Gwinnett College. In the process, the Lady Tigers earned a playoff berth at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Softball Championship for the first time in program history.

The Lady Tigers dominated the Lady Tornadoes for the entirety of the matchup before emerging victorious, 7-3. They end the regular season with a winning percentage of .510

"The strength of programs at GCAC schools is very evident right now," said GCAC Commissioner Steve Martin. "We are seeing unprecedented nationwide success in all sports, and it shows the hard work and dedication of our member institutions, their student-athletes, staff, and athletic directors."

The Lady Tigers entered the tournament at 4-0 against AII member institutions, largely on the strength of shortstop Lauren Eaker, who led the Lady Tigers with with a .333 batting average, collecting 31 hits in 93 at-bats while driving in 13 runs and scoring 20 times. Kali Barnhill led in the center circle with a 5-0 record in 10 appearances, carrying a 4.48 ERA and striking out 21 batters in 29.2 innings of work. The Lady Tigers would ultimately fall to the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies in the final round of the tournament.
